Tools and Weapons

 

Weapons are categorized into four primary classes - sticks, blades, flexibles, and projectiles.

The following is a list a weapons students may choose to learn at various levels in their training.  Students are encouraged to pick one or two primary weapons to focus on for their entire career with auxiliary training in others.  Your primary weapon is your business.  This list in NOT complete.  The color of the tool name denotes the rank at which you may begin training that tool.  Rank requirement vary from instructor to instructor, and from style to style.  This list is only to give you an IDEA of where the tools go in order of learning.  Not all instructors teach all weapons!!!

Instructors may deviate from order at any time.

Weapon Studies are simple certifications used to designate Intent for Proficiency (I4P).  To have an I4P you must;

1.)  Have worked with the Tool for at least 6 months.

2.) Be able to demonstrate 5 techniques of any kind at medium speed.

3.) Demonstrate 1 disarm technique.

 

Proficiencies are requirement for promotion to various ranks.  To earn a Weapons Proficiency (WP) you must;

1.)  Have trained with it for at least 2 years.

2.)  Be able to demonstrate 10 techniques with the Weapon.

3.) Demonstrate 5 disarming techniques for the Tool.

4.) Be able to use it in varying light and weather conditions.

5.) Be able to manufacture a combat-ready version from available materials.

 

For Black Belt you must have two WP’s and two I4P’s
